MINI Tyres and Run-Flats
Many MINIs leave the factory on run-flat tyres with no spare wheel. Run-flats let the car be driven a short distance at reduced speed after a puncture, and they should be replaced with the same type. Fitting is subject to the right tyre being available.
MINI is part of the BMW Group, so its approved tyres can carry the same star marking. Matching it keeps the car as it was set up, though size, load and speed rating come first.
MINI Electric
Heavier than a petrol Cooper, so the replacement tyre must carry at least the original load rating.

Tyre Notes for MINI
Many MINIs leave the factory on run-flat tyres, marked RSC or RFT, often with a star. A run-flat lets you drive a limited distance at reduced speed after a puncture, but the tyre still needs checking and usually replacing. Most MINIs with run-flats have no spare wheel. Mixing run-flat and standard tyres on the same axle is not recommended.
MINI Hatch, Clubman and Countryman models commonly run 16 to 19 inch wheels. The electric MINI is heavier and may need XL (extra load) tyres.
Locking wheel bolts are common. MINI tyre pressure monitoring usually needs a reset in the car's menu after new tyres, and we can show you where it is.
John Cooper Works models use larger, high-performance tyres that wear faster, especially at the front. If you are thinking of changing from run-flats to standard tyres, you would need a spare wheel or repair kit, so we can talk this through on the call. Many MINIs are driven on short town journeys, which can hide slow punctures: if the pressure warning comes on, check all four tyres before driving further, as a soft tyre can overheat and fail.
Fitments vary by model, year and trim, so always check the size, load index and any approval marking on your current tyre, or in the MINI handbook. Without a spare or a sealant kit you'd have no backup after a puncture, so we recommend staying with run-flats. We explain the options when you call.
