Mercedes-Benz Tyre Specifications Explained
The same Mercedes model can leave the factory on several different wheel and tyre sizes, depending on trim, AMG Line packs and optional wheels. Two cars that look alike may need different tyres, so we go by what's on your sidewall, not the model name alone.
We're an independent mobile tyre service, not a Mercedes-Benz dealer. We supply and fit tyres to the specification your car needs, including manufacturer-marked tyres where they're available.
What MO and MOE Mean
MO marks a tyre made to Mercedes-Benz original equipment specification. MOE is the run-flat version (Mercedes Original Extended). MO1 is a version used on some AMG models.
Run-Flats on a Mercedes
Some models use run-flat tyres and have no spare. If yours shows MOE or 'Run Flat', replace it with a run-flat, subject to availability.

Tyre Notes for Mercedes-Benz
Some Mercedes-Benz models come with run-flat tyres, marked MOE (Mercedes Original Extended) on the sidewall, while others use standard tyres with a tyre repair kit and no spare. MO on its own means the tyre was approved for Mercedes but is not a run-flat. It is worth checking which you have before you call, because a run-flat should be replaced with a run-flat to keep the same handling and the same ability to move the car after a puncture.
Electric Mercedes models in the EQ range are heavier than petrol cars of a similar size and usually need XL (extra load) or HL (high load) tyres. Some carry the MO-S marking, which means the tyre has a foam layer inside to reduce road noise. Always give us the full sidewall marking for an EQ, including the load index.
C-Class and E-Class cars commonly run 17 to 19 inch wheels, with AMG Line and AMG models on 19 to 21 inch, often staggered with wider rear tyres. Many Mercedes have a locking wheel bolt, so find the key first. After new tyres the pressure monitoring usually relearns as you drive, or can be reset in the car's menu.
Fitments vary by model, year and trim, so always check the size, load index and any approval marking on your current tyre, or in the Mercedes-Benz handbook. Can you replace a Mercedes tyre at home?
Yes. We come to your driveway or the road outside, as long as there's a safe, reasonably level space next to the car.
Do I need an MO-marked tyre?
It's the closest match to how the car was set up, but it isn't the only option. Keeping the right size, load and speed rating matters most, and we'll explain what's available.
Are you a Mercedes-Benz approved dealer?
No. We're an independent 24/7 mobile tyre service. We fit tyres to your car's specification at your location.
My Mercedes has run-flat tyres. Can you help?
Yes, subject to the correct run-flat being available in your size. Look for MOE or 'Run Flat' on the sidewall.
What do you need for an accurate quote?
Your model and year, the full tyre size including load and speed rating, any MO marking, and where the car is. A photo of the sidewall covers most of it.
