Tyres on a Lexus Hybrid
Almost every Lexus sold in the UK is a hybrid or electric car. They can be switched on silently, so our fitter makes sure the car is fully powered off before lifting it.
Lexus SUVs carry a battery as well as an engine, so tyres need the right load rating. Some models were fitted with run-flats, which should be replaced with the same type, subject to availability.
RZ Electric
Heavy and quick. The replacement tyre must carry at least the original load rating.

Tyre Notes for Lexus
Lexus UX, NX, RX and ES models commonly run 18 to 21 inch wheels. Most are hybrids, so the car must be switched off, following the handbook, before any work starts. A hybrid can be silent while it is on, so we make sure it is fully off.
Some Lexus models are fitted with run-flat or low-noise tyres, and the electric RZ needs tyres with the correct load rating, often XL (extra load).
Locking wheel nuts are common. Lexus tyre pressure monitoring may need a reset or relearn after new tyres.
Lexus F Sport models often run larger, lower-profile wheels that are more easily damaged by kerbs and potholes, so it is worth checking the rim edge as well as the tyre after a knock. Because Lexus cars are quiet, road noise from a worn or unsuitable tyre is more noticeable, so tell us if quietness matters to you and we can suggest suitable options. Tyre age also matters on low-mileage cars: the DOT code on the sidewall shows the week and year it was made.
The UK legal minimum tread for cars is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tread.
Fitments vary by model, year and trim, so always check the size, load index and any approval marking on your current tyre, or in the Lexus handbook. Yes, once the car is fully powered off. Our fitter checks this first, as hybrids can be on with no engine noise.

Can you fit tyres on a Lexus RZ?

Can you fit a tyre on my Lexus at home?
Yes, on a driveway or the road outside, as long as there is a safe, reasonably level space next to the car. Car parks are subject to permission.
